Manager Customer Category Leadership – Foodservice
Job Purpose/Summary:
The Manager Customer Category Leadership provides overarching distribution analytics by leveraging Tyson category knowledge, industry trends, customer expertise, and systems to drive growth in the “street”. Primary audience is Distribution, Corporate Accounts Sales Leadership, SS&E and Customer Category Leadership teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Corporate Initiatives – support data analytics by channels, market segments, cuisine type, innovation, etc. performance measuring. Did we achieve what we said and validation in the field, especially given the move to direct and more visibility through CRM. Did we achieve the awarded volume on the RFP?
Assortment optimization support with an eye toward customer (distributor and operator) and consumer. Distribution Void Matrix by distributor, region, etc. to understand breadth and depth and opportunity volume in adjacent sites. Provide intel and data support tools to SS&E team to support market planning.

Purchasing clusters/Ideal Prospect Model – opportunity to create customer bands based on product and channel/segment/cuisine type – gap that could be improved with right technology integration (Blacksmith, Datassential, CRM customer attributes) – Targeting.
Additional opportunity to support Non-Comm from an analytical standpoint, non-compliance sales reporting to support sales initiatives/field execution plans. GPO volume changes (real vs membership shifts), Contracted vs Self-Managed opportunities tracking, Schools GPO relationship changes.
Manage customer portfolio optimization by developing recommendations on what categories/items to expand distribution and the conversion of weaker items to improve the overall health of the portfolio through best in class analytics, leveraging both internal data, external customer data sources (e.g. Sysco ALR, GFS, USF Cookbook, PFG Meal Ticket), and syndicated data (e.g. NPD)
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Bachelor degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 5 plus years of experience in category management, analytics and customer insights; extensive experience with syndicated data.
Computer Skills: Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. High comfort level with big data projects and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) a plus with demonstrated ability to process raw data to relevant actionable insights.
Communication Skills: Highly Skilled in both written and oral communication. Data storytelling required.
Special Skills: Understanding of basic financials, strong analytics and problem-solving, and project management skills.

Travel: 3-5 times/year
