Description:

King University, a Christian liberal arts college founded in the Presbyterian tradition and located in the picturesque foothills of East Tennessee, invites applications to fill the position of adjunct professor of Hospitality Management in the School of Business, Economics, and Technology (SOBET).

This is a key post that will contribute to the ambitions of SOBET. SOBET is seeking to recruit ambitious, well-qualified, and enthusiastic professors to spearhead a proposed Hospitality Management track in the undergraduate Business program. The adjunct professor will be expected to develop a program of study and create up to four 3000-level courses for the proposed Hospitality Management track during the 2022-2023 academic year. Successful applicants then will be expected to teach and assess students in these newly designed courses starting Fall 2023.

Our instructors provide high-quality academic experiences and support students as they work toward their educational goals. Faculty members work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with student advisors and the academic team to ensure each student has the support, tools, and resources he or she needs to be successful.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in Hospitality Management, an MBA with at least 18 hours of graduate-level courses in Hospitality Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

A PhD or DBA in Hospitality Management (or a related field) is preferred. Significant experience in teaching Hospitality Management and designing a program is desired. Professional business experience working in Hospitality Management—for example, experience in running or managing hotels, resorts or casinos, or events—is also ideal.

Responsibilities:

This instructor must have the ability to design, develop, and deliver a range of Hospitality Management courses, willingness to provide a high level of student outreach, and availability to connect with students, academic advisors, and team leaders on a frequent basis. An instructor in this course must also be engaging, offering an increased and innovative presence in the face-to-face or online classroom to best serve the students and facilitate their success. The instructor should expect to provide substantial student feedback and offer quick turnaround on grades.
