A Buffet Attendant is responsible for Setting up, maintaining, and breaking down buffet or food bar. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

What will I be doing?

A Buffet Attendant is responsible for Setting up, maintaining, and breaking down buffet or food bar. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction. Specifically, you would be responsible for the following:

Replenish needed food and supplies by retrieving items from the kitchen and storerooms to ensure adequate food amounts are always maintained.

Set up buffet food bar as instructed by manager through verbal and/or written communication.

Recommend and describe buffet items to guests using a clear and pleasant speaking voice.

Visually check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up, cleanliness and aesthetically appealing presentation of food bar

Lift and place trays of food into the buffet bar efficiently and quietly and according to safety standards.

What are we looking for?

EDUCATION

High school diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE

No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience in a high volume restaurant preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Ability to obtain Tuberculosis Clearance Certification. CPR Certification and/or First Aid training preferred.

GROOMING

All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must have basic knowledge of food preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, and communicate with guests to explain menu items.

Ability to remember, recite and promote a variety of menu items.

Ability to transport large trays through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.

Ability to stand and work continuously in confined areas.

Ability to work on a variety of floor surfaces, i.e., sloped, slippery surfaces.

Ability to perform duties under extreme temperature ranges.

Knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation and safe work practices.
