Summary/Objective Theme Shop Director leads a team of artist/craftsmen creating custom themed projects for Kalahari Resorts.  Theme Shop Director will oversee ongoing projects by managing a production schedule, ensuring that all projects are being completed according to specifications, and ensure that safety standards are always met.  Some travel is required.CompetenciesnEffective English reading and communication skills.nOutside of the box, creative thinkingnExcellent knowledge of fabricating and processes.nCompleted OSHA 30-Hour training a preferred qualification.nSolid knowledge of commercial and/or construction fabricating techniques.nAbility to understand complex written and oral instructions of technical nature.nGood basic math skills.nConscientious with great attention to detail.nAbility to work individually as well as in a team setting.nKnowledge of work safety and OSHA regulationsnWillingness to use PPU (face-shield, gloves etc.)nDesire to continually learn and improvenDemonstrate a spirit of teamwork via communication, coordination and cooperation with all production team members. nEssential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.nManage the operation of a family-owned in-house theming department responsible for the signage, theming and fabrication needs of five resort properties and a golf course.nManage all aspects of theme shop production, including new concept and project estimates, material sourcing and purchasing, production and installation.nManage a team of up to 25 artists, craftsman and fabricators.nCreate and have oversight of the installation of concept art for theme parks, waterparks, restaurants, hotel lobbies, convention centers and other themed environments.nLead the design, manufacturing and installation of several thousand signs made from a multitude of materialsnManage the process or design, sculpt and paint large-scale foam and fiberglass sculptures.nManage the process or design, create and install large-scale installation art pieces.nCollaborate with ownership and across all departments to develop ideas and concepts into tangible products.nCollaborate with a wide range of subcontractors, vendors and tradespeople on a broad range of construction and remodel projects.nConsult on renovation and new projects. Reading and understanding product schematics and assembly instructions.nLead product development meetings.nEnsure 100% compliance with safety standard and usage of PPE. nMust be proficient at troubleshooting most common recurring problems without assistance. nDependable and able to work overtime as requested. nManage purchasing of supplies and materials nManage equipment maintenance schedulenFollow Company policies and procedures.n#LI-JM1 Source: Hospitality Online,
