About the Role:
The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for assisting in all aspects of food and beverage service operations, as a member of the food and beverage supervisor team. The Banquet Supervisor reports to the Catering Director and Banquet Manager and will work alongside a team of Food and Beverage Supervisors. This position will assist in leadership responsibilities of the food and beverage outlets, while providing an emphasis of leading food and beverage team on the floor for day-to-day dining operations in our multiple dining outlets throughout the Club. The team maintains the facilities and services at the highest quality level for the enjoyment of members and their guests.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist in all events (both Club and private) throughout the Club
Assists in all food and beverage outlets as needed in effectively executing a la carte service
Rotates responsibilities among food and beverage outlets as needed
Assists with the orientation and training of the Banquet Team, and any new food and beverage staff.
Assists with recording and maintaining monthly inventory of banquet supplies
Directly responsible for the organization of all banquet storage facilities and supplies. Hold all staff members accountable to standards of organization Develops knowledge of POS system and able to train employees on all aspects of system
Coordinates all decorations and setups expectations as assigned by the Director of Catering. Distributes all proper supplies and expectations to the service team that is setting up. Ensures that setup is done accurately before events begin
Maintains the organization, distribution, and inventory of all service staff uniforms
Continually monitors and reassesses the departments training and development needs.
Suggests creative ways of promoting Club functions in the member dining areas
Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all F&B equipment and facilities
Promotes a positive working relationship between the banquet team and culinary teams
Maintains active involvement in professional organizations and continuing education in related classes.
Follows and enforces all rules and policies of the Club.
Conducts pre-shift meetings with all staff members prior to events
Maintains a high level of member contact throughout service hours.
Handles member and guest complaints in a professional manner and according to established policies, and forwards all information to upper management.
Participates as an active member of the leadership staff in improving the service and operation of the Club.
Knowledge of role during emergency situations. Aware of fire and life safety procedures.
Maintains positive attitude with all staff and members. Avoids all negative comments.
Displays a sense of urgency with all tasks, sets an example for the staff
Performs other duties as assigned by the Catering Director or Banquet Manager
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Previous food and beverage supervisory experience required; experience in a premier level private club desired.
Proven experience in developing and implementing successful food and beverage training.
Initiative, creativity and self-motivation, as well as discipline.
Ability to motivate others and manage financial and human resources effectively with the responsibility to achieve established goals and objectives.
Display a high level of professionalism and integrity as befitting a member of management.
Ability to work in an environment that requires occasional sitting, frequent bending, stooping, pulling, and lifting.
Continuous standing, walking, repetitive actions for extended periods of time.
Heat sensitive environment.
Able to operate standard office equipment including computer, proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to quickly and proficiently learn new POS systems and software.
Must be able to exercise good judgment under pressure.
Have a high level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures and objectives.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
This is a hands-on role and requires excellent member/client-relations.
Must demonstrate tact, diplomacy, common sense and flexibility.
