About the role
As part of KWM excellent corporate hospitality team, this role provides back up and assistance to the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of food and beverages for both internal and external clients. Currently we require part time coverage two days a week (Thursdays and Fridays) although additional hours may be offered which will be paid overtime.
We are looking for a skilled, committed and creative person to execute the culinary vision of the Head Chef as well as contribute their own creativity and ideas. There will be the opportunity to assume additional responsibility in the absence of Head Chef as required.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the food preparation and presentation of all in-house catering (including daily café items, buffets, cocktail parties, functions etc.) ensuring that high quality food is provided at all times
Working with the Head Chef to plan rotating weekly café menus
Supervision and mentoring of other kitchen staff as required
Assistance with stock ordering
Support to the Head Chef with regard to staff rostering, function and team coordination
Undertake any projects as requested by Head Chef, Business Services Manager or Head of Business Services and Security Risk
Responding to client (internal and external) requests efficiently and effectively and seek to exceed their expectations
Ensuring hygiene and safety standards of the kitchen are met and the equipment/utensils are maintained.
This role is offered on an initial 12 month contract basis.
What experience are we looking for?
Formal chef qualification/s
3 years experience in a boardroom, corporate, hotel or restaurant kitchen environment with high volume catering
Cold larder and hot silver service prep skills
Knowledge of stock ordering and menu planning
Creative and health conscious menu planning and preparation experience, including understanding of dietary variations
Computer literacy in MS Office software
Confident and reliable, flexible in approach while able to remain calm under pressure
Experience with function coordination
Flexible in working hours
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
