Description
Title: Service Assistant
Status: Part Time / Non-Exempt
Purpose/ Summary:
To assist servers in providing exceptional service while maintaining dining room cleanliness and clearing and setting table within 2 minutes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Service Execution
o Perform station opening/closing duties each shift
o Set up/break down and continual maintenance of Service beverage areas
o Restock glassware in service area and bar area
o Restock ice
o Polish silverware used in silverware roll-ups
o Roll silverware
o Clear and clean all plates and glassware from tables
o Reset tables in a timely manner to ensure all guests can be sat within 2 minutes of the last table leaving ( worded strange)
o Ensure tables are being set according to BJ’s guidelines for tables, booths and bar tops
o Make sure the chairs and floors around tables are clean
o Bring all dishware to the dishroom
o Help ensure that plate ware decoy system is being followed in dish room
o Maintain continuous restroom checks
Operational Execution
o Assists with pre-clearing plates at tables
o Assists with beverage refills
o Assists with wrapping of leftover food following BJ’s wrapping procedures
o Strong understanding of Clearer and Setter responsibilities
o Strong understanding of “Zoning” as it applies to Service Assistant job duties
o Strong understanding of financial responsibilities with breakage
o Notifies manager of any problems with equipment or breakage that would affect the supply of necessary items for service
o Notifies the manager of any guest complaints no matter how small it may seem
o Able to prioritize
o Maintain personal health and sanitation standards
o Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance and safety.
o Maintain clean uniform and understands that he/she is always on stage
o Attendance in mandatory meetings , training and workshops
o Ensure 100% compliance with all Company policies and laws, including health and safety standards
o Ensure compliance with BJ’s Code of Ethics, Integrity and Conduct, BJ’s Seven C’s, and BJ’s Principles of Professional Service
Necessary Skills and Requirements:
o Must be 18 years of age
o Ability to work in a fast paced environment
o Experience working in a team orientated environment
o Knowledge of principles for dealing directly with the public
o Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
o Good communication skills
o Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
o Essential hand/eye coordination
o Mature judgment in handling all matters
o Excellent organization and problem solving skills
o Standing and walking during entire 8 hour shift
o Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts
o Must have the ability to lift up to 60 pounds in weight on a semi regular basis
o Ability to speak, read and write English
Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. required.
