JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the sale and planning of in-house and off-site meetings and special events. Leads, implements, and maintains a management philosophy in alignment with company standards. The position has the responsibility of ensuring the proper planning and execution of all events, as well as achieving profitability, client and employee satisfaction.
The position takes ownership of own events taking place within the hotel and in external venues. Works with the Sales team on converting leads, building client relationships and trust and focuses on account management of existing clients to grow repeat business and maximize revenue opportunities and new business leads for the company.
Additional responsibilities include accurate forecasting and supporting the Director of Catering in creating and executing strategies to achieve department targets.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Profitability
• Qualifies business and tracks leads.
• Develops working relationships with outside vendors and supports establishing prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and to increase additional revenue opportunities for the property as needed.
• Creates opportunities to upsell during event planning.
• Negotiates and markets to drive sales and create profits.
• Identifies customer needs and all sales opportunities which ensure successful catering events.
Participating in and Leading Catering Teams
• Builds a positive work environment by demonstrating self confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
• Understands how to manage in a culturally diverse work environment.
• Uses problem solving methodology for decision making and follow up.
• Demonstrates personal integrity, manages time well, and is highly visible in areas of responsibility.
Supporting the Management of Catering Operations
• Interacts with other catering employees, customers and guests, vendors and suppliers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of all departments within the property.
• Communicates group needs to various departments within the property.
• Prompts handling of all inquiries within market and parameters.
• Creates written and verbal presentations effectively.

• Creates an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations. <
