Hotel General Manager jobs description

A hotel general manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of a hotel and its staff and is accountable for planning, organizing, and directing all hotel services, including front-of-house (reception, concierge, and reservation) services, food and beverage operations, and housekeeping. In larger hotels hotel general managers often have specific areas of concentration (for example, guest services, accounting, or marketing) and make up a general management team.

While taking a strategic view and planning ahead to maximize profits, the hotel general manager must also pay attention to details, setting an example for staff to deliver a standard of service and presentation that meets guests' needs and expectations. Other responsibilities of a hotel general manager include performing regular checks to ensure consistently high quality of food and service throughout all aspects of the hotel’s hospitality services; managing budgets and financial plans; controlling expenditures; and dealing with customer complaints and comments.
To obtain a hotel general manager job, one typically must have a bachelor's degree in hotel or hospitality management and three to four years of relevant experience. Hotel general managers must possess excellent communication skills, written and oral proficiency in English, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
